This phycomid looks partially rotten. Half of the trunk seems to be infected with some sort of disease. Perhaps that is why you only see phycomids of this sort in these caves. Whatever the cause of the sickness, it seems to be slowly turning the phycomids into a foul smelling ooze. It does nothing for the phycomid's temper, either.
