The Gates of Shadowfall

     You have come to the gates of the city of Shadowfall. The place is a
shambles, as can be seen from these gates. They are more of an archway than an
actual passage, for there are no doors within the twisted frames. The stone
walls fare no better. They are crumbling almost as you watch. If it were not
for the dark, grey-green vines covering them, they might have fallen long
before now. You watch people enter and exit the city gates, and notice that
they are slow, and oddly quiet. They take no notice of each other, and the gate
guards here take no notice of them either. You can almost feel the poverty
creep into you.
