It is night and the moon is not up.
Old Shadowfall: Ruins

     You are in Old Shadowfall, a section of the town that lies in ruins and
desolation.  The place is hardly a city anymore, for it has been overgrown by
vegetation for years.  Large trees now sprout from the ruins of old buildings. 
You can see only pathways of thick grass where there were once busy streets. 
With a bit of work, you can make out bleached white walls where buildings once
stood whole, but now these places are little more than tiny clearings in the
trees.  To the west, you can see the river and the tree-trunk bridge to the
other side of it.  The ruins of Old Shadowfall lead off to the south.
