        Dark red clay forms four walls around you, each wall beveled with
thousands of marks from where hoes and shovels carved out the clay that once
filled this room.  The tunnel system that beckons you to the south has been
created by human hands, not natural forces, probably for sinister purposes.  A
dark hole in the center of the floor gives you no clues as to its destination.


There are two obvious exits : south and down.

        You trudge along the path, uncertain of your whereabouts.  The sides
have narrowed, and the dark quartz seems to almost grab at you, scratching your
skin and snagging your clothing.  Your eyes have started to adjust to the
darkness, but even this does not assist you in your journey, for you see
nothing but endless rock and night.
