A dark metal rail prevents you from getting too close to the very edge, although a locked gate leads out over to the edge. A priestess stands inside the gate, throwing heathen books into the lava as a sacrifice to Immakala. A cage holding a dirty, scrawny human prisoner is guarded by a stern-faced warrior. You hear whoops and cheers from your west, and turn to see a large crowd of people gathered thickly about. You notice that there is also a large crowd of people to the east, all congregating around a metal stage. The gate of fire blazes to your south. Dim reddish light illuminates the huge cavern that forms the main square of Deepfire. People swarm around you as you walk along, most with the distinguishing red hair and black eyes of the Fire people, though occasionally a human convert to the cult strolls on by. You push your way west through the dense crowd and laugh in sudden delight as you see a juggler throw brightly colored balls into the air, turn two cartwheels, catch the balls again, and sends them high into the air once more. The main square stretches out to the northeast, where the fire fountain shoots high into the air, and back out to the east. There are two obvious exits : east and northeast. Giant statues of fire salamanders stand guard at the entrance to the five great warrior houses of Deepfire. Past the two gargantuan statues a vast, fire-ringed cavern stretches back into the depths of the volcano, leading the way to the Houses of Immakala's viciously fanatical warriors. To the southwest the flames from the fire fountain leap high into the air in a spectacular show of light and color. There are two obvious exits : northeast and southwest. Curving flames form the walls of this long cavernous tunnel through the mountain. Elegantly carved stone stairs decend from five ornate gates spaced along the corridor, each one the entrance to one of the great warrior houses of Deepfire. You stand before the first great gate, staring up at the white marble arch above you, squinting at the gold inlaid inscription. The corridor of fire continues to the east, and the main square lies to the southwest. There are three obvious exits : southwest, east and down. Sweat beads your brow as you continue along this flame-walled cavern. Gleaming black marble forms the second great gate in the corridor, the golden inscriptions shimmering from the smooth, night-dark arch. The white gate of the House Olar shines to the west, and the blood red gate of the House of Ylthe lies to the northeast. Warriors passing through the corridor eye you suspiciously as you continue along the tunnel of flames, giving your person a wide berth as you stop before the blood-red gate that marks the third great warrior house of Deepfire. The flames from the corridor flicker off the glossy red surface, making the solid marble seem to dance under the light. The black marble gate of the House of Kaladar gleams to the southwest, and the clear glass gate of the House of Sylos shimmers to the north. There are three obvious exits : north, southwest and down. The glass gate of the fourth warrior house of Deepfire quivers with refracted light from the flames about it, curving up over the steps to the House of Sylos like a river of running fire. Glass steps pour into the heart of the mountain like a burning waterfall, sparkling and glittering as they wind their way downward. A golden inscription crowns the high arch of the gate. The blood red marble gate of the House of Ylthe pulses in the light to the south, while a glowing gate of pure gold lights up the north. There are three obvious exits : north, south and down. The corridor ends here at the oldest and most powerful warrior house of Deepfire. A gate of pure burnished gold rises over the worn golden steps of the House of Tanadir, reflecting the fires forming the walls like a finely polished mirror. The clear glass gate of the House of Sylos shimmers and quivers to the south. There are two obvious exits : south and down.
