wind.  To me then a wraith encompassing life...mortal his coil but raging with
strife.  Testing the air...seeking...craving...a winged creature in the night 
flying into the Spiders web...

     Slowly I tread into the darkness...into the very depths of an ancient
cave that heralds but one thing of note.  A blood stained altar of a long 
forgotten God remembered by only a few.  I kneel before the altar and begin 
to pray to the One God asking for guidance.  The very shadows begin to shimmer
and reshape into a black figure that seemingly sucks all of the darkness 
into his very being until I am naught but laid bare...a rogue without his
shadows.  Such evil eminates from the very core of this being that I know it
can be none other then The Master himself.  
    "Master long have I served you for generations upon generations and thanks 
to your dark power I have lived much longer then ever a mortal could hope to 
live...but I grow tired of it all for there are none left who were here when I 
began.  I beg of thee...let me sleep the eternal sleep and walk by your side 
in the dark abyss of your Kingdom for I am weary of this life."
Cyric looks at me with total disdain...a sneer begins to curl upon his beshadowed
lip and I can feel the anger resonating about the very stone around me.  With
cold penetrating eyes he pierces through to my very soul and I gasp in pain as
all of my thoughts are laid bare before him.  Finally the Master begins to 
speak: "I am going to give you the choice I gave Glorn long ago my Herald.  If
you truly wish to leave this life behind you I will grant you your wish but you
must train an apprentice that will become your equal if not your better before
I will grant your soul release to my Kingdom."  I ponder the Masters request 
for awhile...Glorn never told me why he took me on as his apprentice.
     "Master, I reply: The thieves are scattered right now...some even betray
thier own now...many are pathetic and weak and forget the ways of a rogue."
Wraithlike shadows swirl around me and begin to make sweet sucking noises as
small cuts and bruises begin to form all over my body.  The pain is almost 
more then I can take and then just as quickly it abates.  The Master speaks
softly into the darkness: "You are not to question me or give me excuses for 
why you cannot accomplish a task I set out for you...is that understood dear
Whisper?"  Slowly I come to my feet once again and wince in pain as I give a
short bow and nod my acknowledgement.  "Thy will be done Lord Cyric, I will
find an Apprentice who is worthy enough to walk the dark path I have walked
all these long centuries."
      The Prince of Lies nods in affirmation and slowly fades into nothingness
once again.  The traitorous shadows rush back to my side as if they had never 
left and now comes the true task....who will become my apprentice?
