The land is lit up by the eerie light of the waning quarter moon.
   Beyond the gates of the Temple of the Smiling Lotus, a gravel path winds
between terraced flower beds, leading up toward an open building.  Elaborately
worked stone basins hold small pools of spring, water, and floating in each
basin is a curious lantern, which light up the gardened walkway in the
nighttime sky.
    Each flower bed is immaculately kept, with beautiful plants arranged to
blend the myriad of colors into an asthetically pleasing vista.  The scent of
the pollen overwhelms your nostrels, and you inhale deeply, enjoying the aroma.

It is night and the moon is not up.
   This is a picturesque gravel walkway which leads right up into the open
temple building.  You continue to be amazed at the seemingly perfect flower
arrangments in each of the many flower beds lining the path.  The wrap around
terrace surrounding the temple is adorned every few feet with a hanging clay
pot, each holding luscious flowing vines which flow down tangling around the
posts.  Each post also has a decorative oil lantern to light up the terrace and
flower beds so as to allow the mystics and visitors to enjoy the beauty even at
night.
   The temple has been built out of cool, sun-dried bricks with a thick thatch
roof.  It appears to be only a single story, and stretches to the south.

more artistic mystics, and depict scenes of monks defending the temple,
fighting great battles, and meditating in peaceful, idyllic settings.
