Tale 108 told by Bishop on 28.11.2000
Epic battle
Good and Evil? I'll tell you a tale I know:
Two knights strode into the town square. One upholding the laws
of truth, justice and light, the other upholding the laws of
death, destruction and darkness. Each held a sword and shield,
radiating powers that would make normal mortals flee. They
were the true embodiments of light and darkness. Silence filled
the square, the town, the realms as the two knights squared off.
Then in deafening screams, they charged one another, crashing
together repeatedly, blood flying, bone cracking. The battle
continued for hours, then days, each body taking more damage than
physically possible, each knight kept alive by the sheer force
of will and belief in their cause. Then each mustered final
strength and brought their swords screaming together and in an
explosion of blinding light, the swords annihilated each other.
The burned carcasses of the knights fell lifeless side by side,
their armours destroyed from the battle. The only thing left
were the two shields, still glowing with power, unscathed by
the epic battle.
The elder dragon looked down from his perch on the battle, grinning
at his luck. Swooping low, he snatched a shield in each claw and
retreated back to his lair to inspect his new prizes. The rumour
is the dragon found the shields to be useless and not pretty enough
to hold as trophies, so he ate them.
Far-fetched you say? Dragons do like to snack, well it's just a
story anyways.
