News about the holy from the unholy

The other day I saw an incident that delighted my old eyes.
A group of Timion priests had captured a young mage, one dressed with
black robes. He was accused of serving his vile master and commiting
some crimes. The mageling, desperated, tried to bribe the priests
with some news about the secrets of the holy word, that power able
to clean the souls tainted with the unholy. The three lawbringers
looked impressed by the offer, lowering their guard. The mageling
didn't doubt a second in trying to blast them with a cone of cold...
Too bad that he wasn't what we would call an archmage and he met
a swift and fast death.

I'm still wondering if there was any truth behind that tale of
ebony evil and black walls or the whole thing was a cunning
trick from a not so cunning mage.
